Djokovic-Medvedev to meet in US Open final for second time in 2021

The 2021 champion defeated the 2022 champion to reach the final. In the end, it was a repeat of the 2021 final.
2021 U.S. Open tennis champion Daniil Medvedev (27, Russia, No. 3) defeated defending champion Carlos Alcaraz (20, Spain, No. 1) 3-1 (7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3) in the men's singles semifinals of this year's tournament on Monday in New York City.
In the earlier semifinal, Novak Djokovic (36, Serbia, No. 2) reached the final with a 3-0 (6-3, 6-2, 7-6) victory over Ben Shelton (21, USA, No. 47).

Djokovic and Medvedev have a 9-5 head-to-head lead.
However, the most decisive victories came from Medvedev.
Medvedev denied Djokovic a "calendar grand slam" (winning all four majors in a single year) with a 3-0 (6-4, 6-4, 6-4) victory in the 2021 US Open final.
The victory also gave Medvedev his first career major title.

This is Djokovic's 10th US Open final. He reached the final in 2011, 2015, and 2018.
Medvedev is in his third US Open final, including the 2019 final where he lost to Rafael Nadal (37-Spain-139th).
The U.S. Open men's singles final will be played on Nov. 19guide03.com 11 as the return match for the 2021 edition of the tournament instead of Wimbledon this year.
