Allison Lee, who got the opportunity to win her first debut as a mother, “Thanks to eating kimchi in Korea”

Professional golfer Allison Lee is being interviewed after setting a course record in the first round of the LPGA Tour's 'BMW Ladies Championship 2023' held at Seowon Hills, Seowon Valley Country Club, Paju, Gyeonggi-do on the 19th.

Allison Lee (29), a Korean-American who is competing in the LPGA Tour in her mother's hometown, expressed her joy about visiting Korea.

Allison Lee has a Korean-born Irish father and a Korean mother. His Korean name is ‘Lee Hwa-hyeon’.

Lee, who majored in political sociology at the University of California (UCLA), passed the qualifying school in first place and has been on the LPGA tour since 2015.

Although he has now reached his 9th year of tour experience, he has yet to win a championship. His greatest achievement is his 18 career top 10 finishes, including two this year.

In August 2021, she took the top spot in the Ladies European Tour (LET) Aramco Team Series Spanish competition, but has yet to wear the crown on the LPGA Tour. The LPGA Tour world ranking is 66th, and she is honestly not a top player.

However, I always brought back good memories from Korea. She received attention by taking second place at the LPGA Tour KEB Hana Bank Championship held in Korea in 2016.

In the 2021 competition, which was held after the name of the competition was changed from the KEB Hana Bank Championship to the BMW Ladies Championship, she finished in 9th place and performed well in this competition last year as well, tying for 10th place.

The good chemistry between Allison Lee and Korea continued this time as well.

On the first day of the LPGA Tour 'BMW Ladies Championship 2023' held at Seowon Hills Course (par 72) at Seowon Valley CC, Paju, Gyeonggi-do on the 19th, she tied for second place with 9 birdies and 9 under par 63 strokes without bogey. This is the best score in a round in a competition in Korea.

She is only one stroke behind leader Ashley Buhai (South Africa), who hit 10 under par, so she is in a position where she can turn the tables at any time in the remaining rounds.

Allison Lee showed off her best skills on this day with a fairway landing rate of 92.86% and a green hitting rate of 100%, fostering her dream of her first career win.

Allison Lee cited friendliness as the secret to her continued success in Korea. He said, “Korea is a place I have often visited since I was young. “I think I’m getting good grades because I can eat a lot of good food, including kimchi,” he said.

He continued, “I always feel good when I come to Korea. “Every year around this time, I feel like my shots are falling into place,” he said with satisfaction.

He is eager to win his first championship in his mother's country, South Korea. I am determined to continue the good momentum from the first round and stand at the top.

Allison Lee said, “There was really nothing that couldn’t be done. Shot after shot, putt after putt, everything went exactly as I wanted,” he said. “The course for this competition is easy. Moreover, thanks to the rain, the green was soft and it was easy to control the distance. “I will do well in the remaining rounds with lots of energy,” he said.
